Jaguar Pictures, Information and Facts
Jaguar can be found only in remote area of Central and South America, mostly in the
Amazon basin. The Jaguar was once found from the US to the Mexican border southward to
Argentina. Now, they no longer exist, having been hunted to extinction. It survives in
reduced numbers in Central and South America.
Since the Jaguar does not fear man, they will expose themselves to poachers. Even in
controlled areas the cats fall victim to poachers.
Jaguars are solitary animals, the adults
meet only for mating. The females give birth to one - three cubs. The cubs helpless and blind
at birth, will stay with their mother for two or more years. The Jaguar will feed on a wide range
of animals. It prefers large prey, but will also eat mice, birds, fish and frogs.
