Big Cats in North Carolina

Located on 500 acres just outside of Asheboro are several exhibits crafted to resemble the natural habitats of the animals that reside there, which include approximately 1,100 individual specimens representing more than 200 species.

Family-owned Tregembo Animal Park is southeastern North Carolina's oldest zoo. It has more than 75 species of animals on display, including several big cats.

Located in Asheville, the Western North Carolina Nature Center serves as an important environmental education resource for the area. The center hosts school groups, offers summer camp for elementary and middle school children, and features a youth volunteer program for middle school students. The center is home to big cats native to the region.
